This year we will celebrate the International Women’s Day with a movie screening written and directed by a Turkish woman Ümmiye KOÇAK. It is Turkish with English subtitles! We will screen the movie on two occasions! Please choose the time of your attendance at the link below. All proceeds will benefit BTF Empowerment Education Scholarships for economically disadvantaged girls in rural Turkey. So please donate at BTF Michigan Giving Circle

Ümmiye KOÇAK who is an accomplished writer despite the fact that she did not get a proper school education received the Best Eurasian Artist Award for her acting role in the film at the Eurasian Film Festival in New York. She says the movie is based on a true story and deals with the violence against women. She also points out that violence usually comes from a man who is raised by a woman so the education of a woman is more important.

After the Saturday screening (March 11), we will have an extended program with a reception, TACAM The Most Courageous Woman Award presentation and more.

We’ll also try to establish live connection with Ümmiye KOÇAK via Skype for questions and comments.
