As part of a world wide event a group of us performed Ata Barı at the park stage exactly at 12:19 (19:19 in Turkey).

Speeches by TACAM President Mehmet Yaya, ex-TACAM President and head of Atatürk Park committee Nilüfer Esen-Bilgin, Oakland University Political Science Department Chair Prof. Paul Kubicek, and Honorary Council of Turkey in Michigan Nurten Ural, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremonies which revealed the newly constructed Atatürk statue made by Gabriel Ruhi Tuna from Toronto. A large group of guests did the first tour of the park despite the pouring rain.

Celebration activities continued by musical performances by Dilek Engin, Benjamin Fuhrman, Tayfun Özdemir, and Murat Ulaşır.

We thank everyone who came and became a part of the opening ceremony despite the inclement weather. Next time you are around, please do come and stop by at our Atatürk Park!
