Chidren Day Celebration – Field Trip to Lansing

As we celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, we are pleased to share that 5 of our children ages 7-16 completed their field trip to Lansing yesterday.
Our children first met with Andy Schor, Mayor of Lansing, listened to the importance of democracy from an elected official; then asked few questions to the mayor. Mayor Schor presented a proclamation for the Children’s Day during the visit as well.
Our kids had the opportunity to visit the State Capitol of Michigan, learned about the 150 year old historic building. They also saw the legislative chambers and the ceremonial office of Governor Whitmer. We capped our visit with a stop at our dear friends at @socialslothcafe for delicious food. We hope to return to Lansing for a similar trip in the future.
We also want to remind our in person event at TACAM Cultural Center for Children’s Day tomorrow starting at noon. Our children prepared a great event for all families to enjoy. We look forward to seeing all our children there.
