TACAM would like to welcome you to the beginning of the Turkish Language School! —

TACAM would like to welcome you to the beginning of the Turkish Language School! We have several exciting changes taking place to ensure that you or your child receive the best possible education.

TACAM would like to introduce our new Director, TACAM Board Member Emine Zeren. Emine is an education major who has worked with children in various settings for over the last seven years. She will be developing a curriculum bi-weekly which will then be posted on our Web site for all parents/students/members to view. Returning again this year are Özgün Ulupınar, who will teach the beginning learners, and Beste Windes, who will teach our more advanced learners. This is Beste and Özgün’s second year teaching at the language school. Both are native Turkish speakers with a passion to share their knowledge.

TACAM Turkish School has also added many new children’s books to our library over the summer. All of the new books are in Turkish, and we feel they will work wonderfully to supplement the lessons and make it more fun. Our young learners will also do different activities, such as making delicious Turkish food. The education committee has decided that as a reward for good attendance and participation, we will have a special end-of-year field trip. There are more surprises in store, but you’ll have to sign up your little one for them to see what we have planned!

Our mission is to teach you or your child conversational Turkish, proper grammar, and Turkish literature. The children classes will be held at the TACAM building from 12–2pm every other Sunday staring October 18, 2009. This is a fantastic extracurricular activity for your child to be a part of.

Also, TACAM will be conducting adult classes beginning October 12, 2009, 7pm, at the Halle Library (building no. 12) on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti (The easiest visitor parking is at the EMU Student Center, with only a 4 minute walk to the Library). Adult classes will be held weekly,
and will be free of charge to TACAM members.

Please register yourself or your child in this valuable program as soon as possible to Miss Zeren with the following information:

Name

Age (not necessary for adult learners)

Turkish Language Ability (Fluent, Moderate, Beginner)
