International Women`s Day Celebration

International Women`s Day

Please join us to celebrate the International Women’s Day. This year we would like to celebrate it with an art exhibit of Elif Yilmaz’s paintings, and a movie screening to increase awareness about the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

Sunday, March 8
2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
28847 Beck Rd.
Wixom, MI

On this day we will have chance to see more works of Elif Yılmaz who is an artist & creative consultant based in Windsor, ON. She is one of the young talents in the community. Her portfolio consists of illustrations that embrace a contrasting palette, and characters which tell a story and bring harmony to the images. The combination of colours, places, and stories are the inspirations to her unique style.

We will continue the program with a movie screening on HPV. HPV may be the most widespread, misunderstood and potentially dangerous epidemic that most people hardly know anything about. 80 percent of all people under 50 years of age will have a strain of the virus at some point in their lives and most will not even realize they have it. Cervical cancer is almost exclusively caused by HPV and it is the 2nd leading cancer in women. One in two current college students have HPV. Men cannot be tested for HPV, but do unknowingly carry and spread the virus. “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” will educate, shock, reveal, entertain and maybe even save lives…

2:00- 3:00 pm: Reception for the art exhibit
3:00- 4:15 pm: Movie Screening
4:15- 6:00 pm: Interaction and Q&A

Hope to see you there.
