The Long Journey

We would like to invite you to an online movie screening. This docu-drama tells about the migration from Anatolia to America, known as the ‘Land of Opportunities’, in the early 1900s. Director Mesut Gengeç traces his two grandfathers who migrated to America. He witnessed all the addresses of the journey from Anatolia to America. The scenes were shot in Turkey and 15 different locations in the USA (Elazığ, Manisa, Bingol, Kayseri, Cappadocia, Istanbul, Foça, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Salem …) and important scenes were dramatized with famous actors like Ali Sürmeli and Rıza Akın. In the documentary, interviews with Turkish and American historians as well as families of immigrants to America draw attention.
Following the screening of this 70-min movie, there will be a Q&A session with the director Mesut Gengeç who will join the conversation from Turkey. Hope to see you on Friday Nov 27 at 9:30 pm.
