Candlelight Vigil for the Earthquake Victims

TACAM invites to Turkish American community to a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of recent earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria on the first month anniversary. Marked by one of the deadliest in our history, these earthquakes impacted 10 major cities, countless towns, resulted in more than fifty thousand deaths, hundreds of thousands of injured and caused a true humanitarian crisis both in Turkiye and Syria.

We will start the vigil at 6:00 pm in front of our Ataturk bust, lighting the candles, have a moment of silence followed by short remarks.

TACAM has been diligently working on relief efforts with our fundraiser and our in-kind good donation drive. Your generous financial support resulted in more than $26,000 and we have already donated $20,000 to Bridge to Türkiye campaigns (emergency fund $5000, and CATE – Child Amputees of Türkiye Earthquake fund $10,000; KAHEV – Turkish Female Physicians’ Education Support Foundation $5000). Your in-kind donations have also been delivered to Turkish Consulate in Chicago last week.
