We have celebrated the International Women’s Day at TACAM on March 6, Sunday at 1:30 pm. An exhibition of Ebru Art, all created by the artist Seyra Gündüz Kaya, was enjoyed by all guests. A short interview with Seyra can be seen here:
Nilüfer Esen and Saadet Yılmaz hosted a presentation about problems faced by women in the USA vs. Turkey. Also, continuing with the tradition we have initiated last year, we had a new list of women of our community — particularly those who served in TACAM board at various times — to whom we wanted to express our appreciation:
Aslı Özgün-Koca, Aslı Yaşin, Beyza Sarıoğlu, Dilek Kırca, Ebru Uras, Emine Zeren, Fatoş Koçer, Feyza Sayman, Gülay Schorr, Halide Koçak, Handan Ege, İlkim Ertürk, Mehpare Gençyüz, Mehtap Aksoy, Meral Mecum, Monica Stevens, Neylan Ataç, Nilüfer Ateş, Nuray Ağaoğlu, Nurten Yavuz-Bauer, Özlem Falkiewicz, Sevinç Sparks, Seyran Bek, Sülbiye Poyraz-Peters, Suzan Arslantürk, Voula Sonbay, Yeşim İşeri Kayaalp, Zeynep Çakır
This year we also started a new tradition of recognizing one woman from our community and presenting her with the “Most Courageous Woman Award.” The recipient of this award was Zekiye Ural. Mrs. Ural was not able to join us during this event, but her certificate will be presented subsequently.
