Saturday, January 16, 2010
6:30pm – 1:00am
Quality Inn, 30375 Plymouth Road, Livonia, MI 48150
You are invited to an event that will expose you to Turkish culture and art! Enjoy Turkish cuisine, handicrafts, music and dance with friends of Turkey in the Detroit area and beyond!
Turkey, being a country where the east meets the west — some might think that this is a mere cliché — therefore, a country where one would observe what both the west and the east offers, presents a very diverse understanding of art and culture.
Turkish Culture and Art Night provides an unique opportunity for you and your friends to discover the cultural diversity of different regions in Turkey and to explore the foundation of this diversity: Turkish arts.
The Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan (TACAM) invites you to join us in introducing Turkish cuisine, culture and art.
Program
There will be a variety of meze and homemade baklava made by volunteer members of the TACAM community.
We are happy to announce that the TACAM Ensemble, a local live Turkish Folk Music (Türk Sanat Müziği) and Fasıl group, will be performing, as well as DJ Zoltan will be playing his great Turkish music collection. The TACAM Ensemble is composed of Yasemin İnan, singer; Dilek Engin, violin; Laith Alattar, ud; and Murat Ulaşır, darbuka (drum).
In addition, we will have a wonderful folk dance performance by TACAM Folklore team, as well as a magnificent belly dance performance by Solvikelma Belly Dancers Extraordinaire.
Furthermore, there will be a handicraft gallery and presentation on culture and art of different ethnics live in Turkey.
