PROCLAMATION TURKISH AMERICAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF MICHIGAN THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, on June 1, 1972, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan (TACAM) was incorporated in the State of Michigan as an association organizing and supporting activities in cultural and charitable fields, both in Turkey and in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan is also involved in activities which help promote interest in Turkey, Turkish people, the Turkish language and Turkish traditions; and
WHEREAS, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan has been a member of the Wixom community at its current site on Beck Road since 1981; and
WHEREAS, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan continues to make significant contributions in the educational, cultural, economic and civic development of our community through sharing their rich cultural heritage and through their dedication to the responsibilities of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan will be celebrating its thirtieth anniversary on October 26, 2002;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael McDonald, Mayor of the City of Wixom, in recognition of the great contributions of the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan during the thirty years of its existence, do hereby proclaim Saturday, October 26, 2002, as TACAM Day in the City of Wixom and wish the Association continued success in the years to come.
