Friday, March 11, 2011 — 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Workman Elementary School in Canton MI at Cherry Hill and Denton Road. 250 North Denton Road Canton, MI 48187

Invite all friends and family to celeberate the diversity in our community. Many countries such as Turkey will be represented.

Turkiye Room is No. 13. At 6pm “around the world dance session” will start at the audotorium.

Each country decorate their rooms. Visitors are elementary school age children with their parents and friends. Decorations will include:
traditional and cultural costumes, maps, fun giveaways, educational material, food and music.

This year Elçin Özşahin kindly took over the responsibility to organize the food table. Every year our food table is a huge hit! Please do communicate with Elçin if you like to contribute still.

Although Turkey will not be performing folkloric dances on the stage, Timur Özşahin is chosen to represent us to sign on the stage with “We all sing with the same voice” along with many countries’ children. Timur also prepared 7 questions about Turkey that we will have the answers on the wall and he will award kids who can spot the answer with a goodie bag.

The Turkish Room will be tended by Elçin Özşahin, Murat Ulaşır, Jason Windes, Beste Windes, Leylâ Ahmed, Ferid Ahmed and Aslı Yashin.

Let’s fill up our Turkish room and visit every countries’ rooms and show our appreciation. Every year the closing song after the dance performances reminds us that each and everyone of us made this society what it is and best is yet to come in terms of acceptance and diversity. Let us do our share!

Please contact event managers Aslı Yashin and Beste Windes with any suggestions and questions.
