United States Congressman Gary C. Peters would like to send his most sincere and deep appreciation for the friendship extended to him by the leaders of the Turkish American community here in southeast Michigan.
Most recently, at the annual Turkish Republic Day Celebration, the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan (TACAM) presented Rep. Peters’ office with a certificate of appreciation for his performance and lasting contributions to TACAM. Didem Şeyhoğlu-Hepaktan and Leylâ Ahmed lead what is truly a model organization.
The local leadership of the Turkish community is following in the tradition of Atatürk in reaching out and making a real difference to strengthen ties with Members of Congress and leaders from outside of the Turkish family.
The honorary counsel general of Turkey, Nurten Ural, has demonstrated her steadfast friendship to Congressman Peters over the past year and our office is always pleased to identify other opportunities to develop ties with others throughout the community. Her ability to build bridges across various other ethnic, religious and cultural groups is to be commended.
