Travel to Turkey to explore some of its treasures. This course will acquaint you with some of this wonderful country’s most beautiful cities: İstanbul, Bursa, Ayvalık, Salihli, Deñizli, and Bodrum. Rich in historic architecture, history, art, and culture, Turkey is a travel destination you must see to believe but you can experience some of its cultural wealth through the images and observations with your host. This class is held at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.
This program is a unique opportunity to learn about art, architecture and culture with your host, Mark Farlow, a principal with Victor Saroki & Associates Architects in Birmingham. Mark was educated at Lawrence Technological University (BScArch, BArch, March) and did his post-graduate work at the University of Cincinnati (MScArch Program). He has taught at the University of Cincinnati, Mississippi State University, Plymouth Polytechnic University (U.K.), the University of Detroit-Mercy, and LTU. Mark has been with Victor Saroki & Associates for over 17 years and has worked on many of the firm’s award-winning projects. He is also the next president of the Birmingham Rotary Club and traveled to Turkey in 2008 on a cultural/vocational exchange program through the Rotary Foundation.
